METRIC FLIGHT / MF-01 / REQUEST-FOR-QUOTE DRAFT 20 October 2026. Not sent. Preliminary requirements, not an order. Objective: an owned, enclosed optical-force measurement setup, with independent electrostatic calibration and a passive mirror as the first optical test. 1064 nm; 2 W intercepted power after optical-path losses; reference ideal force 13.343 nN; 1 W secondary linearity check. A proposed expanded uncertainty requirement is <=15% of the measured optical prediction (2.001 nN for the ideal 2 W point) at coverage factor k=2; this is not achieved performance. Provisional mechanical envelope: 0.10 m effective arm, illustrative inertia 0.002 kg m2, 100 s natural period. Chamber approximately 400 mm internal diameter, subject to final layout. Supply mechanical interface drawings and load limits before final design. Dry pumping candidate with a pressure-sweep goal of 0.1 to 0.001 Pa; final attainable pressure and gas-force plateau must be measured. No pressure number alone qualifies a force result. For laser/optics: quote exact configuration, output and low-frequency power drift, wavelength, beam size/profile, polarization, warmup, external modulation/attenuation compatibility, power monitoring, mounts and enclosure interfaces. For metrology: specify calibrated uncertainty at 1064 nm, aperture/interception, response time, resolution, drift and console compatibility. Do not substitute resolution for uncertainty. For readout/acquisition: specify low-frequency noise and drift in the actual bandwidth, raw timestamped data access, auxiliary temperature/pressure/power channels, triggering and calibration. Quote optional lock-in separately; no 5 MHz upgrade is required by the preliminary slow-balance design. For vacuum/isolation: specify complete pump/controller/backing-pump package, gauges, valves, feedthroughs, viewports, mounts, load/footprint, pumping vibration, installation and maintenance. Include dry operation, materials/outgassing and conductance assumptions. Chamber thermal shielding and matched-heater controls are separate line items. Required commercial return: exact parts/options, quantities, accessories, calibration certificates, lead time, warranty, installation requirements, service, taxes, freight and exclusions. Identify deviations from requirements explicitly. Prices and configuration validity should be dated. No vendor contacts or orders are authorized by this document. Before procurement: qualified experimental lead and independent metrology review must accept the measurement model, optical/mechanical drawings, installation suitability, laser containment/interlocks and uncertainty allocations. Final suspension and electrode design remain open. Please quote a hosted-laboratory measurement route separately from an owned-system route. No host-lab price or availability is established. A 2 W nominal source may not deliver 2 W at the sample after losses; quote adequate headroom and calibrated attenuation.
